Outside of Almanzora and Cantoria there are many beautiful and interesting places to visit. Below I have mentioned some that I am happy to recommend. I would love to hear from you about your visit.

San Juan de los Terreros
We love San Juan Beach. We've visited here over many years on holiday and it was in Henrocks (when it was just a bar) that we decided to get engaged. Henrocks is now a lovely popular resturant that specialised in skewers, paellas and fresh fish. They cook their fish over a bbq made from an old rowing boat, their fish is to die for!!! With views of the beach and freindly staff, what more would you want?
Asador El Castillo / Castle of San Juan de los Terreros
Before going to order your meal, pop over to the other side and check out the views from the 18th century castle fort ruins, they are stunning. The resturant itself is gorgeous with the ability to sit either inside or out. Even if you sit inside there are large windows that can open up and let the sea breeze through and the views are breathtaking. It is Spanish run so we use our limited Spanish and get by OK. The staff are usually friendly and the food and drink absolutely delicious.

Olula del Río
Museo Ibanez and the Pérez Siquier CenterIf you get the opportunity go to Olula del Río and visit the amazing Museo Ibanez and the Pérez Siquier Center. Home to the largest collections of Contemporary Art in Andalusia. Amazingly this is offered to visitors for FREE! I can't fault the place as the staff are wonderful, the buildings are clean and modern. As for the art, they were very thought provoking. I love that it got us wondering, translating, debating and sometimes giggling. You can find out more by clicking on the 'useful links' provided on this page
Bodega La Marquesina | The Marquesina WineryThis is a fantastic Spanish Restaurant serving excellent food. We have always opted for the Tapas menu and not been disappointed yet. The staff have always been friendly and helpful despite our lack of Spanish, they are very patient. There's a vast variety of drinks available and you can put your empty water bottles to good use by having them filled with Wine or Sherry from their barrels. A fantastic atmospheric environment with an array of bull fighting memorabilliaon the walls. If you are offended by their Spanish tradition, I would avoid. Otherwise, I would HIGHLY recommend a visit next time you are in Hercal-Overa.
Albox / Chirivel
Monastery of the Virgin Del Saliente.
What a beautiful building. It is a monestery, restaurant and hotel in 18th Cenrury stone, simple beautiful. We had an delicious lunch and couldnt fault it. The views are fantastic up on the mountain and I'm sure that it will be even more spectacular once the almond trees are in blossom. This is the most important pilgrimage centres in the Spanish southeast. Sarretera Al-71100 Km, 21 Albox _ Almeria | Located on the road between Albox and Chirivel.
