If you have a pet and are looking for a vet, I can highly recommend the team at Almanzora Veterinaria (formerly Nexo). They are professional, knowledgeable and great at putting you at ease, especially during stressful moments as a new dog owner. Hector and foster Diesel love them dearly.

CLOTHING / SHOES

DLoren Calzados - C. Ramón y Cajal, 5, 04800 Albox, Almería
I was instantly made comfortable. The Spanish shop assistant was very patient with me while I explained my needs in limited Spanish and tried on different pairs of walking boots. I would highly recommend this shop for footwear and their service. They do a variety of shoes, with a good selection of walking boots at reasonable prices.

FERRETERIA / BRICOLAJE

This is one of my favourite shops in the Arboleas and Albox area. The go-to store where locals go for tools, DIY supplies, plumbing and electrical fittings, household essentials and practical solutions for everyday fixes, all under one roof. This must be one of the cleanest and most professional dental surgeries I have visited, after many years of needing fillings, crowns, and extractions. If you are looking for a dentist, I highly recommend contacting them. I originally found them via the Clínica Dental Inmaculada Instagram account. They offer many dental services and have Spanish and English speaking staff available.

Health Food Shop and Community Centre - Calle Malaga, 04800 Albox
Claire and her daughter run this fantastic centre in Abox and have a wealth of knowledge. This is the place to purchase health food and supplements, and to join a variety of classes such as yoga.

POSTAL SERVICE

When we moved to Spain, we were worried about not getting our post, as we were not permitted to use the village post box linked to our address. We looked at local options and chose these guys. We get a message when a parcel or letter arrives, so we do not have to keep popping into Albox to check. Sarah and her team offer parcel drop off and collection, plus secure PO Box rental at a very reasonable price. Excellent service and always a smile. English run.

Going to a garage can feel intimidating, especially with limited Spanish. The team at GoCar Arboleas were brilliant when we had car problems in 2020. Since then, I have taken our car for a pre ITV test when it was due. They gave great advice, booked the ITV directly, and even took the car for us, so we did not have to worry. Leah on reception is lovely and speaks English for anyone nervous about visiting a Spanish garage.
